Is this the most needed international break ever?

The international break is usually greeted with frustration for most Premier League fans but for us, it comes as a welcome break following the 3-0 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion.

There are a few reasons why this break has come at a good time for us but firstly it means that we don’t have to endure 90 minutes of Bruceball and can have the rare luxury of enjoying the weekend untarnished by what ever United throw at us.

The break also offers the team a chance to regroup and come up with a plan of how they can improve from the recent dross we have been watching.

However, reports about the infrequency of how often Steve Bruce has had them on the training ground mean that the club may be wasting this opportunity that has been offered to them.

As bad as Newcastle have been in the last few weeks, the team’s chances have been hampered by the injuries to front three Callum Wilson, Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron.

Especially in the games against a very poor West Bromwich Albion and an underperforming Aston Villa side; if the trio had been available the magpies could have and maybe would have won at least one of the games.

Almiron was way off the pace in his return to the side against Brighton and he is likely to have used this fortnight off to gain fitness ahead of the Spurs game.

Wilson and Saint-Maximin are yet to make their returns but it was very pleasing to see the club’s official Twitter account tweet out a picture of the duo back in training. Let alone the fact our two star players were back in action it was just nice to see that they players do actually still train.

For all the negativity around the place at the moment, Wilson and ASM are quality footballers and should make a massive change to the club’s fortunes.

Whether they make it back in time for Spurs or not, the game against fellow strugglers Burnley should certainly be well in their sights and it should give us a great chance of turning this round.

But for now, we can enjoy our weekend without worry of relegation and just live in hope that the club are working on a plan and our three best attackers are a part of that.
