Newcastle United’s Paraguayan ace  Miguel Almiron has been speaking to a radio station in his home country and has made a worrying admission about his future at the club.

The 27-year claimed that he would like to play in a team that fights more. Who can blame him?

This echoes the interview given by Republic of Ireland international Ciaran Clark when he was interviewed earlier in the week about the lack of fight within the Toon camp. Clark claimed that the players ‘weren’t up for it’ in the recent defeat to Brighton.

What might have seemed like a throw away comment potentially lost in translation doesn’t, as it is not the first time noises have been made about Miggy leaving the club whilst with Paraguay.

Earlier on in the season his agent made noises about a potential move away from Tyneside to one of the ‘big English clubs’ as well as other European giants monitoring his client whilst even suggesting if it hadn’t been for the pandemic he would already have moved on.

Steve Bruce responded to that saga with a particularly scathing opinion of the agent, claiming he was a ‘two-bob amateur’.

The latest quotes regarding Almiron potentially not being too happy came in an interview on a Paraguayan radio station called ABC.

Almiron’s comments are unlikely to annoy the supporters too much as many fans are likely to sympathise with the Paraguayan international due to the fact that no one could accuse Miggy of not fighting for the team.

Furthermore, it is hard to disagree that he wouldn’t be way more effective in a better side that may not change his position every week and rely on his tireless energy to help out extensively at the other end of the pitch.

Almiron is an incredibly popular figure on Tyneside and his smile is truly infectious. The club should do everything they can to keep ahold of him but if they were to go down, it will surely be impossible to keep ahold of the attacking midfielder.

Miggy made his return to the side in the defeat at the Amex after recovering from an injury but it was clear to see that he was not fit enough and was taken off in the 76th minute.

With Paraguay’s games being cancelled due to Covid-19, this gives him the perfect opportunity to get himself prepared for the vital visit of Tottenham Hotspur next Sunday.
