Newcastle Offered Real Madrid Forward

|

Newcastle and Liverpool were both reported to have been offered the chance to sign Real Madrid’s contract rebel, Marco Asensio according to the Spanish press.

As relayed by The Chronicle, Newcastle have been given the chance to sign Asensio who is refusing to pen a new deal at the Spanish giants, but contrary to reports in Spain, it’s understood that Newcastle have yet to table a bid.

If Newcastle are looking to make a statement signing, they don’t get much bigger than Marco Asensio. Eddie Howe is definitely in the market for a right-winger with constant links to Moussa Diaby along with interest in Anthony Gordon, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Jack Harrison, so to be offered the chance to sign one of Asensio’s caliber has to be like winning the lottery.

Who would you prefer, Diaby or Asensio?

Moussa Diaby

Marco Asensio

It’s believed that Real Madrid would accept bids around the £29m mark for Asensio which is less than half of what Bayer Leverkusen are asking for Diaby. Wages are unlikely to be too much of an issue as his current wages are believed to be within the Newcastle wage cap, so as long as he does not want a huge pay rise, there should be no issues.

However, it remains to be seen if Newcastle are genuinely interested in Asensio or if it’s all media bluster, and if the interest is real, would it be instead of a move for Diaby or seen as a back up plan if all else fails on that move.
