The Newcastle United transfer circus is in full swing with the Botman deal stalling and flip-flopping every day and the same seems to be happening with Hugo Ekitike.
Several stories are floating around today with conflicting information regarding the 19-year-old striker who looked to be on his way to the Toon a couple of weeks ago.
Sky Sports claim that the deal is moving ever nearer with a medical booked next week. However, several other outlets are pointing towards interest from Paris Saint-Germain. These stories originate from French media which could mean we should take them with a pinch of salt – if we have any left after all the salt pinching we have had to do already in this window.
The only thing we know for certain is that Ekitike, despite positive stories earlier in the month, still hasn’t signed for Newcastle. Whether he’s having doubts about moving abroad, doubts about the club or whether his agent is in his ear pushing him towards a deal that will be more lucrative for the suits, who knows? He might just be enjoying a break from football before making a decision.
Whatever it is, it would be nice to have a line drawn under this and the Botman sagas so we can move on to other targets and begin prepping for the opening league game against Nottingham Forest.
