Toon Linked To Former Liverpool Target

|

According to a report on The Boot Room, Eddie Howe is looking to bring in Real Betis attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir for the new campaign.

Fekir was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool back in 2018 but the deal fell through and Fekir moved from Lyon to Betis in the following window where, despite some good stats, he has failed to hit the heights that many were expecting.

The Frenchman still managed to hit double figures for goals in all competitions last season while contributing six goals and eight assissts in La Liga.

With hope fading on a deal for Lucas Paqueta following a Twitter post suggesting he was staying at Lyon next season, a £30m deal for 28-year-old Fekir could be seen as an ideal fallback plan.

This isn’t the first time the playmaker has been linked with Newcastle with his name being bandied around in the media in January when Newcastle were linked with everyone under the sun, but it never made it beyond the rumour stage. It will be interesting to see how far this one progresses as Fekir could be an interesting addition the ranks.
