Newcastle United fans have sent a resounding message to the manager and owner of their football club in the answers given to the Chronicle’s latest big survey.

The local paper put out a survey full of questions regrading Steve Bruce and the current predicament and the answers and sample size show that it is not a vocal minority that have issues with the way the team has been managed of late.

Some 14’000 filled out the questionnaire and the most damning results are as follows:

Should Bruce be sacked?

A massive 95% of the people who took the survey believe that Steve Bruce should not be manager of Newcastle United Football Club.

Following a run of two wins from a possible 20, this is hardly surprising and the biggest surprise may be that 5% of people don’t think he should be relieved of his duties. Either that or a few pesky Sunderland fans having a laugh.

Will we stay up with Bruce?

Possibly the most damning part of the survey for Steve Bruce is the fact that just 4% of people taking the survey think that Newcastle will stay up with him at the helm.

For us to get relegated with such a talented crop of players would be a massive negative blot on the CV of Steve Bruce, who would then surely struggle to get another job in the game.

A whopping 92% of people believe that we will go down if there is not a change in management whilst the other 4% are undecided.

But who is really to blame?

According to 53% of Mags taking the survey, Mike Ashley is the individual with most blame at his door for the current predicament we are in.

After all it was Ashley who decided it was a good idea to replace the Champions League winning Rafa Benitez for Steve Bruce, a man who had guided one of the most expensively put together Championship sides to mid table mediocrity.

In fact, 34% of people who answered Bruce just goes to show how disliked the ex-Sunderland man really is on Tyneside and it is maybe a surprise to see him rival Ashley in the unpopularity contest.

6% believe it to be the players that should take most of the blame whilst 7% answered ‘other’ to the question.

Who should replace Bruce?

By now it’s fairly obvious that most Newcastle fans want Bruce out of their football club, but who do we want to replace him?

The most common answer is Eddie Howe. It is in impossible to argue that Howe wouldn’t be an upgrade on Bruce and the move would certainly prove popular on Tyneside.

Another popular answer was Rafa Benitez.

Rafa is adored on Tyneside, and rightly so. The only reason why his name isn’t top of the list by a mile is because it is so completely unrealistic that he would ever work for Ashley again after being messed around last time.

Chris Wilder was the third most common name mentioned with the recently sacked Frank Lampard coming in 4th place.

The survey also touched on the supposed takeover with less than half still hopeful that a deal can be struck but the vast majority do still want the PCP/PIF/Reuben takeover if possible.
