Former Newcastle loanee Kenedy has spoken to Spanish newspaper AS about the time he spent on loan at the club from Chelsea.

The Brazilian flair player had two loan spells on Tyneside with varying levels of success.

The first time around he was a breath of fresh air and looked like the type of player that would soon be plying his trade at the very highest level.

Many toon fans, myself included, were begging for the club to pay north of £20M to bring the Brazilian back on a permanent basis. In hindsight; that would have been a terrible, terrible idea.

Nevertheless, Kenedy did come back to the club on another loan deal but this time he looked like a completely different player, his attitude was the main sticking point and it didn’t take long before he found himself out of Rafa Benitez’s starting 11 on a weekly basis.

The turning point was his performance in the 0-0 draw with Cardiff City in just the second game of the season.

His inability to pass, track back or do anything right was made even worse by the fact that the Brazilian missed a penalty in time added on at the end of the second half with one of the tamest efforts ever seen.

Despite his eventual lack of success, Kenedy described him time with us as “Another great experience.”

He also spoke about the differences of English and Spanish football

“I had a more sequence of matches and enjoyed it a little more.

“Spain and Brazil are different leagues than England, which has faster football. Here it is more in the mind, to think.”

Since leaving Newcastle, Kenedy has had loan spells in Spain with Getafe and his current club Granada.

Miraculously, Kenedy is still a player on the books of Chelsea but the likelihood of him ever kicking a ball for the blues again is slim.
