Rumour Roundup – Wednesday 18 May ’22

As the transfer rumour mill grinds up more stories and spits them out, however crazy, we take a look at the more interesting ones from the last 24 hours.

Tom Rogic

Celtic playmaker, Tom Rogic, who left Parkhead at the end of their season, is being tipped by former Magpie, Michael Bridges to make his next destination either Leeds or Newcastle [via HITC]. Whether Bridges chose these clubs purely because of his familiarity with them is known only to him, and although Rogic is a true winner, having won 16 trophies at his time in Celtic, we can’t see this one panning out for Newcastle.

Lucas Paqueta

The Lyon star is once again heavily tipped as a transfer target having been in Newcastle last night for personal reasons. A fan with a ladder, a camera and a total lack of respect for privacy snapped a photo of Paqueta and Bruno having a kickabout in the latter’s back garden. Eagle eyed Twitter users noted that Paqueta seemed to be sporting the current season’s away kit adding fuel to the fire that Paqueta is desperate to join the Toon Revolution.

Matt Targett

Current loanee, Matt Targett made it pretty clear after the Arsenal game that he very keen to stay at St James’ Park telling NUFC TV “I think everyone knows what I want, but look, it’s up to the club”. I think it’s safe to say that his performances have more than earned him serious consideration, especially with rumours of a clause in the loan agreement should Newcastle wish to make the move permanent.
