Plenty of Newcastle United fans were left incensed after a report suggested that the Magpies are the only club that are yet to refund fans for match tickets.
Following the temporary suspension of the Premier League, fixtures have been pushed back to start again this month. The Magpies will restart their campaign against Sheffield United at St James’ Park on 21st June.
This has led several clubs to offer refunds to fans that can no longer attend games. However, Newcastle are now the only team not to put any plans in place to reimburse fans and the silence from the board room has been deafening.
Season ticket holders... what would you prefer?
Full refund
Funds put into the transfer kitty
This could have something to do with the club’s ongoing £300m takeover by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), which is still being looked into by the Premier League and the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
Unsurprisingly, supporters were left seething with the retail tycoon and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that it was “utterly embarrassing”, while another said that it was a “disgrace” that Ashley is allowed to get away with it on a daily basis.
Utterly embarrassing.
