Newcastle United’s prospective owners are being kept in the loop of the latest goings-on at the club, and ideally, they’d like to keep hold of out-of-contract starlet Matty Longstaff, according to George Caulkin.

The Athletic’s reliable Magpies correspondent issued a response to one fan’s question earlier this morning, where he said the following:

If it’s to be believed, then we better hope that the Premier League sign off on the deal sooner rather than later otherwise it’ll be too late to keep hold of one of our most promising youngsters.

Longstaff has been linked with an exit from the club at the end of his current deal with Udinese keen. Their owner, Giampaolo Pozzo, also owns PL rivals Watford – something to keep an eye on perhaps.

Yes, the 20-year-old has only made 12 senior appearances following his debut against Manchester United, but it’s evident he’s a big part of Steve Bruce’s plans.

Will the Saudi consortium right the wrongs of Mike Ashley at NUFC?

Absolutely!

We'll see..

No, can't see it

No, can't see it

The offer from the Serie A side of £30k-per-week is going to seem like a drop in the ocean if the Saudi consortium takes control of the club, so paying him what he’s after is going to be fully justified in the long-run.

What’s more concerning is that the would-be owners know about the season ticket fiasco, but are unable to do anything about it until they take charge – when that will be is anyone’s guess as the PL have sat on the paperwork for two months now.
