With ongoing talk about money being free to spend come the January transfer window as manager Rafa Benitez looks to build on the fact we seem to have somewhat steadied the ship once more in the Premier League campaign of 2018/19, seemingly baseless transfer speculation is now coming at a pretty steady pace.
A trend amongst all the rumours so far have been a striker, for the obvious reasons, but we’ve also been linked with a glut of centre-halves and many fans believe that’s the last position we should now be looking to strengthen owing to the growing partnership between Fabian Schar and Federico Fernandez. We also have a number of others who better can be expected from in the future.
That hasn’t stopped Spanish outlet Cadenaser loosely linking us with Real Sociedad defender Diego Llorente – with a 30million Euro pricetag.
The price alone makes it a no-go for some fans, and even though the former Real Madrid youngster would be a good addition by most people’s standards, again the fact we are already covered was where most focused in their reactions to the link.
Along with our keepers CB is the one place we don't need to strengthen; Lascelles, Fernandez, Lejeune coming back, Schar, Clark…100% certain we won't buy a CB #nufc

The best explanation for this link is Rafa is getting closer and closer to his goal of fielding ten CBs. NUFC – the immovable object.

Priority needs to be a #10… if only Almiron, if only. ????

Really? Another centre back? Personally think we’re ok in that dept, need a playmaker, centre forward and a number 10 urgently, as we have for 5 years now, but won’t get! Be a case of ‘we tried but couldn’t get over the line’!????

Coz we’re desperate for another CB…

We've had form for years for strengthening in positions we're well stocked in as opposed to strengthening in obvious problem positions, especially with goalkeepers.
For example we rarely strengthen in the left back position. I always say we have a goalkeeper fetish! Maybe cb too

Of course NUFC are. Apart from the fact we don't ever sign anyone do we really need to add another CD to Lascelles, Fernandez, Lejuene, Schar and Clark?? Rafas pretty defensive but a new 6 at the back formation???

Cause that’s exactly what we need. Another CB ????????♂️
