Staveley Gets A New Deal With Eales Due To Start Work

|

Martin Hardy of The Times today revealed that Amanda Staveley’s contract has been reaffirmed by the PIF despite Darren Eales’ imminent start as CEO of the club.

It was believed that once a CEO had been appointed that Staveley would take a step back from the day-to-day running of the club, but the reaffirming of her contract suggests that she will still be involved in the decision-making process.

Amanda Staveley, who owns 10% of the club alongside the Reuben brothers 10% and PIF’s 80% has been the face of the club throughout the takeover and beyond and is clearly enjoying her time in the role.

Newcastle fans have reacted positively to the news with several replies to Hardy’s tweet saying this is “good news”. Staveley is a popular figure amongst the Toon Army as it’s believed it was her tenacity and belief that Newcastle was the PIF’s best prospect that kept the deal alive. Without “Wor Mandy”, Newcastle could well still be under the sticky thumb of Mike Ashley and trying, once again, to get out of the Championship.

As of Monday, Darren Eales, who recently left his post at Atlanta, will take up his position as CEO at Newcastle and is expected to be in the stands on Sunday as Newcastle take on Champions, Manchester City at St James’ Park.
