Freddie Woodman is one of five senior goalkeepers on the club’s books at the moment. The England Under 21 international is having to fight for a place alongside Martin Dubravka, Karl Darlow, Rob Elliot and Matz Sels.
Having so many keepers in the senior squad is not sustainable, and you would expect at least two to be offloaded before the transfer window closes next month.
Our no.41 is still young at 21 years of age, and when I polled supporters about what we should do with the talented shot-stopper, most would like to see him sent out on loan:
Woodman spent the second half of last season out on loan at Aberdeen but failed to establish himself as the undisputed number one. The Chronicle reports that another temporary switch could be on the cards with Championship and League One clubs looking at him as a possible option.
Kilmarnock, who had him on loan in the 2016/17 campaign, are also said to be very keen to have him back next season. Should Rafa give Woodman a shot at the first team, or is it still too early? Let me know what you think.
