Newcastle ‘Weighing Up” Move For £18m Rated Championship Forward – Have Your Say

|

The club have entered late into the bidding for Swansea forward Andre Ayew, according to HITC Sport.

Besiktas are reportedly closing in on a move for the Ghanaian international but we are said to be “weighing up” an offer late in the day to snap up the 28-year-old from under the Turkish club’s noses.

It’s likely that our decision to go after Ayew is linked to missing out on Alassane Plea, who joined Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday for £22m.

The Ghanaian only re-joined the Swans from West Ham in January for £18m, but the Championship club are keen to get the forward off the wage bill and are considering both loan deals and permanent transfers.

Ayew struggled for goals last season, with just three for the Hammers and zero on his return to Wales. However, he is capable of playing out wide or through the middle and plays a similar role to Plea who the club had been pursuing for a while.

Whether the Swans star is, in fact, a target, we will have to wait and see. What do you think? Should we be going after the former Marseille player? Let me know in the poll:
