Report: Newcastle have agreed terms as player exit edges ever closer

|

Today has been all about incomings at Newcastle United, with the club finally bringing Miguel Almiron to St. James’ Park. The attacking midfielder looks set to offer us an extra edge going forward, and we can’t wait to see him in Newcastle colours.

However, that’s not looking likely to be the last business of the day for Newcastle – with a player exit seemingly on the horizon.

Indeed, as per Lee Ryder, Jacob Murphy is edging closer to an exit from the club, with a loan fee agreed between Newcastle and West Brom. He’s said to now be preparing for a medical, and so it seems like a temporary exit is only a matter of time for the 23-year-old.

Murphy has made just 3 Premier League starts so far this season, and it’s fair to say that his importance to the team has reduced significantly throughout the course of the year.

He was a regular member of the squad last season following his move from Norwich, but he hasn’t been able to have as much of an impact this term – and Rafael Benitez has clearly not been impressed.

Given the arrival of Almiron, you’d expect that Murphy was only going to have fallen even further down the pecking order, and so there’s no real space for him in the squad at present. Though, are we a little bit short on wingers without him? There’s certainly an argument to say that we are.

Still, a loan move is best for all parties. If he has a good season, maybe there will still be a path back to the first team for him.
