Newcastle have finally revealed the news that fans have been waiting weeks for

|

Newcastle have had a quiet January transfer window, with the Magpies failing to get anything in the way of transfer business done throughout January.

That doesn’t mean they haven’t been trying, though. Back on the 10th of January, the Daily Mail revealed that the Magpies had had a bid rejected for MLS star Miguel Almiron. The attacking midfielder has been one of America’s best over the last year or so, and it came as no real surprise to hear of Premier League interest.

Then, though, it all went quiet. Little was reported on the prospect of him moving to Newcastle thereafter, at least until the final day or two of the transfer window.

Fast forward to transfer deadline day, though, and Newcastle fans have finally got their wish. Indeed, Newcastle have today confirmed the arrival of Almiron from MLS side Atlanta United, as confirmed on the official club website.

He has signed a five and a half year contract.

Almiron enjoyed a remarkable 2018 with Atlanta United, picking up 13 goals and 11 assists in the process. He was the star of their attack in a title-winning season – and so a step up seemed to be a natural move for him.

He’ll come in and help add another level of quality to the Newcastle attack, and we could not be more excited. It’s been a long time coming for fans – but we’ve finally got our man.
