Newcastle would have to sell Joelinton if they are to fund a move for Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik this summer, according to a report from Calcio Napoli 24.

Despite signing Callum Wilson from Bournemouth last month, it seems Newcastle are keen to add another striker to their ranks this summer, with recent reports claiming Milik has been considered as a possible target for the Magpies.

However, it seems as though they will have to sell before they are able to buy when it comes to Milik, with this latest update stating that Newcastle will be unable to afford the Polish international, if they do not first offload Joelinton, who only joined from Hoffenheim last summer.

It is thought that Napoli want somewhere in the region of €20million for Milik, and while that is said to be too much for Newcastle without the sale of Joelinton, they would at least be able to afford Milik’s wages if a deal was to happen.

One other way of getting this deal done that has been suggested, is for Newcastle to Milik on a loan-to-buy deal, and that is something that the Premier League club are said to be considering as they look to bring the 26-year-old to St James’ Park.

In some ways, you that this is a string of business that many of those of a Newcastle persuasion would surely like to see happen.

With Joelinton having yet to look anything like the investment he was supposed to be, you imagine there would be plenty of Newcastle fans happy to see him leave, particularly if it allows them to bring in a proven top-flight goalscorer such as Milik.

The problem is though, with Joelinton’s struggles at Newcastle recently so well-publicised, it is hard to see them attracting the interest or fee they need from the attacker, to fund that move for Milik.
