Newcastle United will undergo a major transformation as a football club and are expected to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as the new manager, according to reports.

The Argentinian tactician has been out of work since November following his dismissal as boss of Tottenham Hotspur, with Jose Mourinho stepping in to replace him just 24 hours later.

The Magpies are close to agreeing a £300m deal with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), backed by Amanda Staveley’s PCP Capital Partners and the Reuben brothers, with Football Insider revealing that the move has edged closer to completion as the Premier League are unable to find evidence against PIF’s alleged illegal streaming.

According to ESPN, Pochettino has swung open the door to managing another Premier League side, with Newcastle United the expected team to secure his services that could make him the third-highest boss in the world.

Would you bring Mauricio Pochettino to Newcastle?

Yes

No

The report adds that the 48-year-old coach could be offered as much as £19m-a-year at St James’ Park, which would only put him behind Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola in terms of salary.

This could lift the roof off St James’ Park and get us moving in the right direction. An upward trajectory for the first time in many years.

After qualifying for last season’s Champions League final, the stunning work that he has done with Spurs as a whole and accumulating an impressive points-per-game average of 1.84 from 293 games, this further puts him in the group as one of the world’s elite managers.

Whatever happens, sympathy has to be given to Steve Bruce, who has done a fine job for us considering the tools he has had to work with and has stabled the ship ready for the next era.
