The Premier League presumably decided to tease Newcastle United fans yesterday given our performances so far in the top-flight campaign of 2018/19 and they took to social media to post rather a cracking goal from our history.
Those considered the more elder statesman amongst the fanbase, shall we say, may well remember the name Temuri Ketsbaia.
The now 50-year-old joined the club in the summer of 1997 before departing in August 2000 and his game time wasn’t that great in reality. He made 57 starting appearances for the club according to Soccerbase and made an additional 52 showings from the bench. He did return a total of 14 goals in that time though.
One of those goals was the subject of the Premier League’s ‘Goal of the Day’ Tweet yesterday.

Reactions to the goal on social media were probably predictable given the year we are having this time around under manager Rafa Benitez, and how we dearly wish we had someone in the squad who was capable of that now – or at least tried it on occasions.
Mad to think none of our players will even try to attempt to take players on like that

Weirdly enough he has gone into management, has been a manager over in Greece for teams like Nicosia, AEK Athens etc – imagine having him lose his rag with a player at half-time, haha!
