Newcastle’s Allan Saint-Maximin challenge

Since he has came back into the side, Allan Saint-Maximin has almost single handedly dragged Newcastle United away from the bottom three and now like nailed on to remain in the Premier League beyond this season.

His performances have wowed and impressed Newcastle fans but unfortunately we can not expect to be the only admirers of the skilful Frenchman’s wonderful displays and he may be the subject of a big money move to try and prise him away from St. James’ Park this summer.

Against Liverpool, the mercurial winger looked electric and the only way that the reds could seemingly deal with him was to attempt to kick him off the park with noticeable big challenges from Kabak and Fabinho stopping him in his tracks.

Judging off the problems he gave a side like Liverpool, he should not be short of admirers and top performances in the wins against Burnley and West Ham United following his influential cameo role in the draw with Spurs only add to this.

Any side worth their salt in the Premier League will no doubt be monitoring the situation at Newcastle and their chances of potentially signing Saint-Maximin.

There is no price tag that should be good enough to sign Saint-Maximin from the magpies. That is not me saying that he is priceless and we have to be realistic that there is still a few minor teething problems to his otherwise brilliant game but to Newcastle United he is everything. We would not be able to sign a player as good as him regardless of the price tag.

A takeover deal rumbles on and a positive conclusion seems the only avenue that sees ASM stay on Tyneside for the long term future but takeover or not, he is the type of player we should be building our whole team round.

The six year contract signed by the Frenchman in October 2020 may boost his chances of staying put this time around but would he say no to the prospect of European football?
