The Daily Mail’s Craig Hope has revealed what he’s been told about Newcastle United’s prospective takeover following fresh reports which emerged on Sunday.

Speaking on talkSPORT‘s ‘White and Sawyer‘ this afternoon, the Magpies reporter has claimed that his sources have suggested there’s been a change in attitude over the weekend, hinting that an announcement is very close to happening.
He said:
“Those sources that have previously urged caution as you said, now believe this is now only – the phrase they are using is days rather than weeks – whether that’s this week or early next week, we don’t know.
“Listen the timing of the announcement ultimately matters not, the biggest thing we need is the decision. Is it yes or is it no?
“For the first time last night and I’ve always been 50/50 with you, but for the first time, the sources I trust have said they do now believe this will go through and it will be signed off.
“It does look as if this is going to go through now.”
It comes less than 24 hours after the Saudi kingdom pledged to combat sports piracy in the Middle Eastern state. The Saudi Arabian Authority for Intellectual Property is aiming to shut down 231 illegal platforms following the World Trade Organisation’s big reveal last week.
Now it appears as if the £300m takeover has edged ever so much closer to completion – it is particularly encouraging to see Hope’s verdict change from being ’50/50′ to it being ‘days not weeks’ at the very least.
The Magpies won on their Premier League return on Sunday afternoon, romping to a 3-0 victory over Sheffield United, and now face relegation-threatened Aston Villa at St James’ Park on Wednesday night.
Could we officially have new owners by then? Only time will tell.
