Lots of Newcastle United fans have been reacting in delight to the latest takeover news that has become a long-winded process over the past few months.
According to the Daily Mail, the Premier League are nearing an announcement on the Saudi-led takeover that is expected to be approved by the governing body.
The report adds that this has been based on the increased involvement of the UK government, who are keen to keep their knots tightly tied with Saudi Arabia.
When do you think the takeover will be announced?
This week
In July
This summer
Never...
If the report is true, this would mean that Mike Ashley’s reign of terror on Tyneside would draw to a close after a 13-year spell as the chief of the Newcastle board room, with fans keen to see the back of him.
This comes after a Β£300m deal was agreed between the retail tycoon and Saudi’s Public Investment Fund, which is led by the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and looks to take 80% of the club’s shares.
What got fans the most, is that Steve Wraith posted a picture on Twitter that showed an image of the Newcastle United crest cocooned by the Union Jack and the flag of Saudi Arabia, simply saying “good night”.
Unsurprisingly, the update sparked joy among the St James’ Park faithful and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan believes the deal is now “all but sealed”, while another simply stated the notoriously trendy “cans”, which has become a well-known phrase among the Toon Army.
Hope your right Steve. The next photo we see from you better be under the Tyne Bridge with Amanda herself ππ
