The Daily Mirror have detailed exactly how Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is feeling as further doubts have crept in over the club’s prospective Saudi takeover this week.

Ever-reliable journalist Simon Bird claims that the Magpies squad, through skipper Jamaal Lascelles, have gone to the Sports Direct mogul to seek clarification and his response was the following information…

“[Mike] Ashley’s position is that he wants to sell up, an agreement is signed with broker Amanda Staveley, and he is now powerless in the process and waiting for the Premier League to rule on the Saudi funded deal.

“There are concerns in the Ashley camp that the longer the deal is delayed the less likely it is to be passed, and unblocking the piracy issue a major problem.”

This whole process has been dragging on for over three months now as we begin to enter July. Yet, the decision is still in the hands of the Premier League, who have been conducting an owners and directors test for the majority of that timeframe.

Do you think Ashley will be at the helm for the 20/21 season?

Yes!

No!

A few weeks ago, it was thought that the bid had received a boost given the Saudi kingdom’s pledge to clamp down on the piracy problems within the country, however, this has thought to have caused anger with other rights holders and thus, continues to hold up this deal.

Which is why Ashley’s camp is growing concerned that this may not be passed after all.

But for now, all we can do it wait.
