Newcastle United’s takeover is yet to be complete and with the transfer window is less than two weeks away, some supporters are rather worried about the situation.

The Magpies appear rudderless from the top down with Mike Ashley practically already having one foot out the door despite the delays.

The Saudi takeover - will it happen?

Yes, 100%

Yes, 100%

No way...

No way...

However, ChronicleLive reporter Mark Douglas has delivered an update on matters to a couple of fans on Twitter this week.

He hints that the current hierarchy are getting on with “shadow plans” whilst “the most likely scenario” surrounding the takeover is that the Premier League are working with the consortium to get this over the line.

He said:

The saga has dragged on for over four months with news first breaking back in April that Saudi Arabia’s public investment fund was to purchase the club from Ashley for around £300m with PCP Partners’ Amanda Staveley and the Reuben brothers also fronting up some cash.

Since then, the St James’ Park faithful have had to face multiple twists and turns and as recently as this week, there was a new development potentially throwing shade on any takeover.

The Saudi’s announced a ban on the MENA’s only TV rights holders, beIN Sports, meaning there is now no legal way to watch the Premier League in the country – not a good look when your PIF is trying to buy one of their member clubs.

All we can do is wait and find out the decision from the PL.
