Newcastle United’s takeover was rocked with a fresh twist earlier this week as news from Saudi Arabia emerged.

The Middle Eastern state has banned MENA’s official sports brodcaster beIN Sports from the country, meaning there’s now no way to legally watch the Premier League.

A strange move given the nation’s public investment fund is trying to take control of the Magpies having had a £300m bid accepted by Mike Ashley over four months ago.

Are you excited about Toon's Saudi takeover?

Yes, can't wait!

Yes, can't wait!

No, bored now!

One of the major stumbling blocks facing the deal has been the issue of piracy, something the kingdom has pledged to combat in recent weeks yet they’ve gone ahead with a move to ban the rights holders to the top-flight.

However, Geordie actor and massive Magpies supporter Steve Wraith has delivered a rather encouraging verdict in response to the bombshell.

He issued a simple four-words, claiming that it won’t be an issue in regards to the takeover.

Wraith said:

The ubiquitous Toon fan has remained positive throughout the long and tiresome process, regularly posting updates to Twitter, and clearly despite this being a huge development, he is still confident of it all going through.

Earlier in the week, Richard Keys made a bold claim that it would be done by Friday (today) but this is something we’ve heard a thousand times since the news first broke back in April, so we’ll have to wait and see if his words ring true.

Although the fact that Wraith still hasn’t waivered from being adamant that the Saudi consortium will be the Magpies’ new owners, is positive.

With the transfer window two weeks away, we need that outcome soon.
