Newcastle Pull Plug On Ekitike Deal

|

Newcastle have seemingly lost patience with the agent of Hugo Ekitike, Karl Mwalako Buchmann, and have walked away from the deal.

Reims and Newcastle had a deal in place, and the player himself was happy with the terms offered, however, it seems the little extras that the agent was pushing for with the deal seem to be the straw that broke the camel’s back after canceled meetings and the striker being offered to other clubs in the wake of the deal being agreed.

As it stands, the deal is now dead, however, there’s still hope for a resurrection. Newcastle are the only club who have made a firm move for the young striker, despite all the links in the press with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain.

Speaking on the 90Min’s Talking Transfer Podcast, Graeme Bailey has said that “Newcastle are doing the right thing by not bowing down to demands” and we have to agree. Hopefully, this is a case of Dan Ashworth calling Karl Mwalako Buchmann’s bluff and he will soon get a phone call conceding defeat and taking the deal that’s on the table.

However, Newcastle aren’t waiting around and are already looking to other targets so if the deal is to be resurrected, Ekitike and his representatives don’t have much time.
