Newcastle Among Three Teams Vying For Cameroon International Defender

|

We are battling Sevilla and West Ham for Torino centre-back Nicolas N’Koulou, according to L’Equipe.

The Cameroon international only moved to Serie A for €3.5m from Lyon last summer, but he was named the club’s player of the season for his performances during his first campaign in Italy.

Torino president Urbano Cairo has said he’s already rejected a bid from Sevilla for the defender, and L’Equipe believe the Italian side have increased their asking price to try and ward off potential suitors.

It does seem a move to Spain would be the most likely though with another bid expected from the La Liga club before the end of the transfer window.

N’Koulou is highly experienced. At 28 years of age, he has 72 caps for Cameroon and has played over 350 club games, mostly in France.

It’s likely that our interest is predicated on Chancel Mbemba leaving St James’ Park, but negotiations with Porto have stalled as the Portuguese club have failed to meet our asking price.

Do we need N’Koulou? Let me in the poll:
