“Fewmin”, “Explain this?” – Some NUFC fans left perplexed at club for unimpressive error

|

Some Newcastle United fans have been reacting on social media, after one supporter shared that Manchester United merchandise was available for sale through the Magpies’ online store.

The club outsource the running of our online shop to Lovell Sports, a Shirebrook-based organisation that sells sportswear goods from a host of football clubs from around Europe and on the international stage.

Lovell Sports are an off-branch of Lovell Rugby – who are the world’s largest online rugby store having moved from high-street stores to online in e-commerce in 1988 – launched in 2007 and are also a sports store chain owned by Mike Ashley.

Toon supporter Mike Borkett has recently noted on Twitter that a scroll through NUFCdirect.com had turned up searches for Manchester United merchandise, when scrolling through the ‘shorts’ section of the site.

The unimpressive error of selling merchandise of a club we once rivalled left some Toon supporters perplexed, though since appears to have been corrected.

Manchester United’s 2019/20 replica training shorts no longer appear on the NUFCdirect.com site since Borkett shared a screenshot of the club’s online store.

Newcastle are also sponsored by sportswear manufacturer Puma, while Manchester United are backed by rival firm Adidas after agreeing a ÂŁ750million, 10-year deal in 2014.

Our deal with Puma is due to expire in the summer, though the German brand were said to be interested in extending the agreement by striking another record deal as our sportswear partner after a decade together.

Here are some of the messages shared as fans reacted to Borkett’s screenshot…

In other Newcastle United news, two ÂŁ15million Toon stars are reportedly being eyed as potential upgrades for a struggling Premier League side.
