Newcastle United look set to be closing in on their first signing of the January window as reports suggest Ademola Lookman is coming to St James’ Park.
According to Football Insider, a ‘Newcastle source’ has told the outlet that a broad agreement has been reached to take the winger on loan until the end of the campaign.
The Magpies have been working on trying to get the 22-year-old on Tyneside for the past few days and they are now confident that the deal will be completed in the coming days.
The former Everton player has allegedly let his representatives and the club know that he would be keen for a move back to England from RB Leipzig.
Allegedly, the deal involved has an option to buy clause at the end of the spell in the summer.

On the face of things, this could be a good signing by the club and things look to be progressing smoothly.
His career has hit a bit of a halt in the past 18 months after he has not been able to secure regular football.
In fact, over the past season and a half, he has started just four league games and has scored just one goal in all competitions.
This season, Lookman has been a man who has had to settle for a bit-part role. With Julian Nagelsmann’s team at the top of German football, the former Charlton winger has had next to no chances given to him by his manager – and you can’t really blame him when you see how well the team is performing without him.
That’s not to say there isn’t a top player there; they wouldn’t have gone after him if there wasn’t big potential. In his last spell at the club, he managed five goals and four assists in just 11 games for Leipzig, so that is proof he has the ability to do it at the highest level, he just needs to find some consistent game time.
