Newcastle United remain without a win from the first 10 Premier League fixtures this season and the pressure on Rafael Benitez’s side is increasing.
The Magpies’ objective this season is to avoid relegation and the target is a tally of 40 points, usually enough to avoid the drop, but this translates to having 20 points by Christmas – which would need 18 from the next nine matches.
While the fixtures on the horizon are more appealing than the battles against top-six sides that Newcastle have already faced, many fans believe the situation is bleak and cannot see Benitez’s men achieving their Christmas target.
Some went even further by suggesting that cannot see Newcastle hitting 20 points from the season overall, with confidence clearly at breaking point towards a club that needs a significant improvement on and off the field if stability is to be found.
