Drameh Move Is ‘Plausible’

Leeds United youngster, Cody Drameh, has once again been linked with a move to St James’ Park, and a potential bid for the right-back has been described as ‘plausible’ by transfer insider, Dean Jones. The youngster has been on Newcastle’s radar for some time now, with Eddie Howe keen to provide cover for Kieran Trippier.

Drameh was described as ‘outstanding’ by Cardiff City boss Steve Morrison during the 21-year-old’s loan spell at the Bluebirds last season, but the youngster has found it tough to force his way into the Leeds team since returning to the Premier League strugglers.

Speaking to Givemesport, transfer expert, Dean Jones, said of Newcastle’s interest: “They do like him, so it’s plausible that it opens up. I wouldn’t say it’s the absolute priority, but we’ll see.”

With Trippier in such incredible form for the Magpies, it may not be an absolute priority as Jones describes, but with Emil Krafth still out with injury, it could make sense to bring in a young full-back to learn from the Newcastle captain.

Drameh has so far managed just 4 appearances at Elland Road and was left out of the squad altogether for his team’s defeat to Man City on Wednesday night. Despite praising the youngster recently, Leeds boss Jesse Marsch admitted that Drameh is currently well down the pecking order for the right-back position.

Speaking to Leeds Live after the City game, Marsch said: “Cody has been playing really well but with both Rasmus [Kristensen] and Luke [Ayling] right now at right-back he’s challenging both of those players and how he’s performing. When we looked at the makeup of the squad, this was the decision that Cody was out, but I’ve been really happy with Cody really happy.”

As well as Newcastle, Drameh is said to be garnering interest from some big teams across Europe, with the likes of Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, and Lille, all supposedly interested in the England U-21 international.
