Juventus Name Their Price For World Cup Star – Newcastle Interested

|

Newcastle have been heavily linked with a move for French midfielder, Adrien Rabiot in recent months with his Juventus contract ticking down.

It was thought that Newcastle would be willing to bide their time and pick up Rabiot on a free when his contract expired, but then he put in several scintillating displays for World Cup finalists, France in Qatar which may have brought Newcastle’s plans forward.

That being said, because of the short time remaining on his contract, Juventus aren’t in a position to command a huge fee for the 27-year-old and have therefore slapped a £10m price tag on him.

Fellow Premier League clubs, Tottenham and Arsenal are also said to be sniffing around according to the Shields Gazette, so it would seem that Rabiot could have his pick of top Premier League clubs should he wish to leave Italy for Blighty.

The rumour mill is at full speed with Newcastle linked to so many players, but this link has been around for a while and probably has more legs than a lot of the names that are being bandied around. It’s also definitely a one I’d like to see happen.

I was a fan of Rabiot already, but then seeing him play at the World Cup elevated that even higher. However, given that it’s Tottenham and Arsenal who are also vying for his signature, I’m not sure we’ll be able to pull this one off.

As much as I hate the “players would rather live in London” argument, I think it does carry some weight when it comes to players moving from abroad. Also he’d be potentially linking up with International teammates at either London club, and former club colleagues at Tottenham, which could sway things in their favour.

This is one to keep an eye on though.

The Vital Podcast this week was basically just me being smug about Newcastle being mint while my Villa and Everton-supporting co-hosts held back tears.
