Toon Linked With Another Young Brazil Star

|

Newcastle have been linked with a few South American youngsters in recent times, and now transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, has named the Toon as a possible destination for Flamengo’s young Brazilian star, Matheus Franca.

The 18-year-old has burst onto the scene in his homeland this year, scoring 8 goals in 28 games, something that has captured the attention of many of Europe’s biggest clubs. Franca can play as a central attacking midfielder or from a wider position, positions that Eddie Howe may be looking to bolster in the upcoming January transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano has become one of the most respected transfer experts in recent years, and he suggests that the young Brazilian is a player to keep a close eye on.

Speaking on his podcast, ‘Here We Go’, the Italian said: “Keep an eye on Matheus Franca. This boy I mentioned many times, it was a [few] years ago.

“This boy from Flamengo is one of my favourites in South America, now Newcastle are actively working to sign him, but they have to make a decision.”

The Magpies have been keen to bring young talent to the club since the PIF’s takeover, with Australian star, Garang Kuol, just one player already set to move to Tyneside in January. Howe is known to want to lower the average age of the squad at St James’, as the manager – and club as a whole – plan for a successful future.

A wide attacker is high on the list of target areas for the January window, but, at this stage at least, a more experienced player might be a better option. Currently sitting second in the table, a player with a history of success surely takes priority for a possible title challenge.
