Newcastle United and Sunderland are separated by two divisions these days and it has been years since the last top-flight derby between the two clubs but the rivalry between the pair remains as fierce as ever.
Magpies fans have enjoyed celebrating Sunderland’s misery in recent seasons after the Black Cats suffered back-to-back relegations, now competing in League One, but the joy has been difficult to find this term as their side suffers.
That has turned things on their head as Sunderland fans, seeing their side fight for promotion, believe a Tyne-Wear derby in the Championship could be on the cards next season – but they believe their rivals should have more hobbies on their hands.
An image went viral from the Stadium of Light this week that showed a Newcastle supporter volunteering at the club, wearing a black and white striped shirt, which caused a reaction on social media.
We have gathered some of the best responses below.
