It has been a tough start to the season for Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle United, who are without a win in their 10 Premier League matches this term and only have two points to show for their efforts.
Joint-bottom with Huddersfield Town, the Magpies have scored just six times in those fixtures and the situation is looking bleak for the coming months – but the picture has not always been doom and gloom.
Back on Halloween night in 2010, Newcastle gave a fright to arch-rivals Sunderland by securing a 5-1 victory in the Tyne-Wear derby and the club’s official Twitter account enjoyed reminiscing that victory.
However, it left many fans on social media comparing that performance to the displays shown by their current side and many identified the fact that, despite their rivals being in League One, it would be a much closer game if it was played between the current squads.
