World Class Serbian Targeted By PIF

|

One name that keeps popping up on Newcastle transfer feeds lately is that of  Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, and it’s a name that has definitely got Geordies excited.

Playing in Serie A for Lazio, Milinkovic-Savic has consistently hit double figures for goal contributions in five of the last six seasons with last season being his peak hitting 11 goals and 11 assists in 37 games according to Transfermarkt.

Calciomercato (via Transfer Tavern) claim that Newcastle have already tabled a bid of over €50m for the midfielder but Lazio are holding out for closer to €70m. Arsenal are also said to have tabled the same offer only to be told the same.

Who Would You Prefer?

Marco Asensio

Lucas Paqueta

This puts Newcastle and Arsenal in another head-to-head battle for a midfielder with both clubs allegedly fighting over Lucas Paqueta too.

At 27, Milinkovic-Savic is hitting his prime and with plenty of experience in Serie A, along with 34 international caps, where he’s bagged seven assists and six goals, he seems like the kind of player who could hit the ground running in the Premier League.

However, we know that Newcastle won’t be pushed into paying over the odds for a player and if they don’t feel that the player is worth €70m it’s unlikely that a deal will be done.
