Word On The Tweet

‘What a day’ – Plenty of Newcastle fans call for ‘pay rise’ after admin rinses rivals

|

Many Newcastle United fans have called for their club’s Twitter administrator to get a pay rise after a tweet was released seemingly mocking their local rivals.

Considering that Sunderland just a few weeks ago lost 2-1 to Burton Albion at the Stadium of Light, the club clearly saw an opportunity to make the most of their loss by reminding their fans of how they beat Burton 2-1 just a few years ago in the Championship.

The official Newcastle United account tweeted saying ‘We enjoyed Burton away…’, seemingly not finishing the sentence on purpose as it could be interpreted as Burton away at Sunderland, whereas the video attached shows their match for 2016 where Dwight Gayle and Mo Diame scored as they won 2-1 away.

What will the result be on Saturday vs Palace?

Eagles win

Lots of fans enjoyed watching the video and the tweet, so much so that some have asked for the man responsible for the tweet to get a pay rise, as you can read from the responses below…

The Magpies might not be having their most successful season, but they can take comfort in the fact that their local rivals are having it a whole lot worse.

The Black Cats are currently stuck in the middle of League One with manager Phil Parkinson having a really rough start to his career as a coach. They have not won since November 2, and have lost 1-0 to Gillingham twice in that time, so there are still reasons to be cheerful on Tyneside.
