Saturday’s scoreless draw between Newcastle United and Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium carried few positives when it came to the performance for an already frustrated fan base.
Our search for a victory in the Premier League campaign of 2018/19 goes on and now stretches to ten matches, although the point against Mark Hughes’ side does lift us into 19th place for now although I imagine few will see a positive in no longer being at the foot of the table.
With Newcastle failing to get a single shot on target across the 90 minutes, plenty of players have come in for criticism, but the returning Salomon Rondon did get some praise from the fans following the fulltime whistle as he appeared as a late substitute.
Given his time out injured he’s obviously lacking sharpness, so is runout will do him the world of good and bring him on further, but some of the following fans are desperate for the on-loan West Bromwich Albion man to show us what he’s capable of and get the goals we are sorely lacking.
Happy to return to the pitch. Huge thanks to our away fans for the support!!
