“We have to” – Benitez reveals squad plans ahead of a crucial week for Newcastle

|

It’s not been an easy season for Rafael Benitez, and unfortunately for him, it’s showing no signs of getting any better. Our squad is still limited, and the games are coming thick and fast.

Indeed, the Spaniard is heading into a vital week, with an FA Cup clash with Watford on Saturday followed by the visit of Man City on Tuesday.

Given the limitations within our squad, it’s going to be interesting to see how Rafa Benitez lines up for both games. Judging by his comments ahead of the game, it looks like we should expect some rotation from the boss.

Ahead of the game with Watford, Benitez said: “We have to use the squad. We have another important game in a few days. Both games are important, and we have to try to manage a strong team for both games.”

Clearly, then, Benitez is looking to change up the team between games, with the boss eager to keep the squad fresh and ready for the task at hand.

Of course, this isn’t a luxury that he’s had all season, but with a few timely returns on the horizon, his squad is looking to be a little bit stronger than it has been in a while.

Naturally, the FA Cup tie must be the first priority, as a big win could help give us some confidence, but the last thing we need is to follow up that game with a one-sided loss to a team like Man City. We need consistency, and as Benitez says, everyone needs to do their bit.
