Newcastle have been linked to prolific French striker Odsonne Edouard – but their fans have little faith that they will get hold of him.
Despite the youngster only playing in the Scottish Premiership, it seems that many fans still believe that he will have much better options out there, with reports in the Daily Record also linking him to Everton and Manchester United.
According to Transfermarkt, the striker has bagged 25 times in 41 games in the whole season. On the contrary, the Magpies have scored just 24 goals in the entire league campaign from 27 games, and just one single goal has come from a striker in Joelinton.
Would you back a move for Celtic’s Edouard?
Yes
No
Obviously, then, there are some big goal problems – and with a goal record like Edouard’s, it’s hard to see how it wouldn’t improve them.
Different reports from Football Insider also suggest that claim that the likes of Lyon and Borussia Dortmund – both in the last 16 of the Champions League – are hot on his trail for any future deal.
Fan account @NUFC360 tweeted about the story, to which many fans replied. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem as if they have much hope of a deal coming off, as you can read below…

No striker worth his salt would want to sign for us let’s be honest. They barely get a kick

£30m on a striker that actually scores goals? That’s a bit cliché.

Hahaha as if he’s going to come to us. Way above our level

He can do better than us currently… and he knows it!

Joelinton has just 11 Premier League games to try and find some goalscoring form so that he can cement his team in Bruce’s side for next season. They are seven points clear of the relegation zone so should be okay, but a few losses can soon change that scenario.
If Edouard was to join, he would certainly be another option for the club, and given the little impact Joelinton has had, he would most likely be first choice at this stage.
