With the return of proper football this weekend after the October international break, Newcastle United welcome Brighton and Hove Albion to St James’ Park as we kick off in Premier League action once again.
Victory for Rafa Benitez’s boys could lift us out of the bottom three depending on results elsewhere, but in any event, all three points would give us our first win of the year and get that particular monkey off our back.
Whilst that will be the only aim on the day, Brighton fullback Bruno has been in the press and the 38-year-old feels that they can use the Toon Army against the club by starting brightly and causing frustrations.
The Chronicle have him saying.
“We have to try to control the pace. Their fans will be behind them, but if they don’t play well, they’re going to be on them. If we start well, the fans could turn and it’s always tough to play without that confidence. We can take advantage of that.”
It’s understandable as to why the experienced player took that angle in his interview and he did praise our support as well, but on that particular point, a number of fans reacting on social media were happy to dismiss his claims as nonsense.
This boring, tired rhetoric again… ???? ????

We've played 8 games, won 0, 2nd bottom of PL, and still the fans are totally behind the team and manager. Is there another club where that would be the case? Not many certainly.

Clearly this guy needs to see a doctor. Start fast? High intensity? Has he seen us play? The fans are incredibly patient in my view and support the team throughout, having been coached by Rafa to do so over a few seasons of urging.

A classic, ignorant comment from someone who knows sweet FA about Newcastle United.
