Many Newcastle United fans have been reacting to an official statement published by a broadcaster that has been trying to derail their Β£300m takeover.

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) came to a financial agreement with Mike Ashley for the purchase of the Tyneside club back in January but investigations into their involvement with pirate television have caused delays to this.

A report from the World Trade Organisation (WTO) published a report not directing responsibility with PIF but believed that they should have acted more efficiently in blocking illegal activity in their country.

Are you confident the takeover will now happen?

Yes!

No!

No!

BeIN Sports, along with Amnesty International, went public on their displeasure with PIF’s intentions of buying Newcastle and posted an official statement on Monday saying that they are unable to show anymore Serie A football matches. Whether this report has had any implications on the Qatari station remains to be seen.

Unsurprisingly, supporters showed no sympathy towards the broadcaster and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan simply said “the Saudis are coming”, while another stated that this is the end result when you go after them.
