Newcastle’s latest signing, Australian wonderkid, Garang Kuol is finally on his way to Newcastle having agreed to the transfer from Central Coast Mariners in September.
The original plan was always to bring Kuol in and loan him out to a European team to further his development and aid with his work permit application.
However, thanks to his appearances at the World Cup in Qatar, Kuol now qualifies for a work visa for the UK, and as such provides Newcastle with an interesting dilemma.
Kuol could now play for Newcastle if he were required to, although Eddie Howe has said he will still look to loan out the striker. Speaking to the media on Monday, Howe said: “It’s a possibility (Garang could train with us). But I do think that for the player’s development, he needs to go and play.
“If possible, that would be at a very good level, with a good club and a good coach. That’s not a decision that’s been made currently, so we’ll have to assess all of our options”
Also, now that he can play in the UK, it widens the net on where he can be loaned to. Ideally, it would make sense to keep him in England to get used to the country, the culture and the English game, but as Eddie Howe state, finding a club that plays at a high level will be a priority.
One thing is for certain, Newcastle will not be short of offers.
