‘Sympathy out the window’, ‘No excuse’ – Many Newcastle fans upset with player after video

|

Lots of Newcastle fans have criticised Joelinton on Twitter after a fan posted a video of the player seemingly not going for a ball in the box.

Fans chanted out “you’re not fit to wear the shirt” against the Brazillian as his side slumped to a 1-1 draw against Rochdale on the weekend.

After joining the club for £40m in the summer, the forward hasn’t had the easiest of starts on Tyneside. With big money comes big expectations, and his one goal and two assists clearly isn’t enough to impress the Toon faithful.

Is Joelinton getting unfairly treated by fans?

Nope, he doesn't deserve decent treatment

He's getting the right amount of criticism

We need to get behind him; not at him

Newcastle fan Adam Pearson posted a video saying ‘anyone that feels bad for Joelinton watch this’, to which many fans responded with their damning messages.

Supporters described it as ‘shocking’ and ‘poor’, while one fan even suggested that this was the specific moment that his support and sympathy went out the window for the 23-year-old.

Here are some of the responses below…

Things have been on a downward spiral for the club since they beat Crystal Palace just before Christmas. Three losses on the bounce in the league has put the threat of relegation back on the cards, and things turned even sourer when a pretty strong side could only draw with Rochdale.

Their next game doesn’t get much easier, either. A trip to Wolves is going to be tough, and to take anything back from Molineux will be deemed a success.
