Simon Jordan Just Can’t Help Himself

|

TalkSport’s relentless gobsh*te, Simon Jordan is at it again. Despite ending up with egg on his face and having to admit he was wrong about Amanda Staveley and her plans for Newcastle United, he’s now questioning Newcastle fans’ excitement over the arrival of Dan Ashworth.

Apparently, according to Jordan, the fact that Manchester United and Liverpool didn’t try and bring in Ashworth means that Toon fans shouldn’t be as excited about his appointment as they are. Saying on talkSPORT.: “He’s not turning water into wine. He will have the financial support to develop the opportunities to meet the expectation, which we are yet to determine of these owners. Ashworth comes with a reputation; some of it is well-earned and some of it is overblown.

“If you look at his involvement in the evolution at St George’s and the next generation of English footballers that have been very successful. You look at the involvement at West Brom and Brighton. You can’t look at the Brighton recruitment policy and say ‘they aren’t very good’ because they are very good.

“If we are to believe that Newcastle are going to ‘rip it up’, then he has the most ideal and challenging of jobs. None of the other big clubs wanted him. Man United didn’t want him. Liverpool didn’t want him.”

So to pick the bones out of that verbal diarrhoea, he’s basically saying “Dan Ashworth is very good at what he does but because Man United didn’t want him he must not be very good. But everything he has done so far is very good.” Basically, a massive contradiction.

I can’t wait to see the retraction of this one in six months time.
