Lots of Newcastle United fans have been reacting on social media, after Sky Sports News presenter Pete Graves shared an update into our pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur full-back Danny Rose.

Head coach Steve Bruce has coveted the signing of Rose ever since he was first appointed to the St. James’ Park helm last summer, and returned to the England international’s case earlier this month following season-ending injuries to Paul Dummett and Jetro Willems.

Rose became a firm option for Bruce after losing Willems and Dummett as the £60,000-per-week left-back has often been frozen out in North London since the arrival of Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese has tackled Spurs’ past four games in all competitions without Rose in his matchday plans, and last fielded the Leeds United product on January 11 as they lost 1-0 to Liverpool.

Rose’s time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is now expected to come to an end, with Graves sharing that the 29-year-old should be announced as a Newcastle player by the close of business on Thursday.

It is expected that Rose will join Bruce’s Magpies on loan for the rest of the season, though there will not be an option or obligation to purchase the 29-cap international in our agreement with Spurs.

Would you prefer to sign Rose or Willems in the summer?

Rose could make his Toon debut in Saturday’s Premier League contest at home to Norwich City, and would train with his new teammates for the first time on Friday in order to face the Canaries.

Previous reports by the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope suggested there was ‘almost certain to be an obligation to buy’ Rose in the summer, though that now no longer appears to the be the case.

Here are some of the messages shared as fans reacted to Graves’ update…

In other Newcastle United news, the club are NOT interested in signing an 11-time Champions League goalscorer this month.
