Rafa Could Make Premier League Return

|

Former Newcastle boss, Rafa Benitez, could be set for a return to Premier League management with struggling West Ham according to reports.

The Spaniard, still much revered on Tyneside, has been out of work since leaving Everton after a hugely disappointing stint at Goodison Park, but he has now been named as a possibility to replace an under-pressure David Moyes at West Ham.

Benitez became a hero with the Toon Army in 2016, after the ex-Liverpool boss decided to stay with the club despite suffering relegation to the Championship. Using all of his experience, Benitez was able to drag the beleaguered Magpies straight back to the Premier League at the first time of asking the following season.

Throughout his stay on Tyneside, Benitez was forced to work under the hated owner, Mike Ashley. It was a relationship that was strained from the get-go and finally came to a head when Benitez refused to sign a new contract, citing working with Ashley as impossible. He left the club in June 2019.

After his disappointing spell at Everton, it would be great to see Rafa back in the Premier League. It is hard to see David Moyes keeping his job for much longer, and the Hammers would be a great club for Benitez to get his management career back on track.

Sean Dyche and Nuno Espirito Santo are others on the list to replace Moyes if the Scot gets the axe, although it is said that the Hammers may only be looking for someone to take control of the team until the end of the season.
