Nudge Nudge, Winks Winks

|

Newcastle United are set to offer 26 year old midfielder, Harry Winks an escape route from Tottenham after being told he can leave by Antonio Conte, according to The Mail.

Winks is a product of the Tottenham Hotspur academy and is valued by the club at around £25m.

Southampton are also said to be interested in the 10 times capped England International. Winks’ appearances for Tottenham have been sporadic since Conte took the helm, propping open the exit door for the player who has been at Tottenham since he was five years old.

This isn’t the first time the Magpies have been linked with a move for Winks with an attempt to bring him to Tyneside failing to materialise back in the dark days of Mike Ashley, saying that the club “couldn’t afford” to loan the player.

Harry Winks will be looking to move on for the sake of his International career which has stalled of late, likely due to lack of game time.

It looks like Eddie Howe is keen to bring in English talent to add to the spine of the team with Winks in midfield and rumours intensifying that a £30m bid will soon be made for Aston Villa and England defender, Tyrone Mings. Villa who have just agreed a deal to bring in former Toon target, Diego Carlos, could be willing to sell in order to free up squad space and recoup their outlay for Carlos.
