Talk Of The Tyne Blogs

Fan of the week

As we all know, fans are the life blood of any club and that is especially true at Newcastle united.

Toon fans are known for being some of the most passionate and loud across the land, and after 14 years of hurt, we finally have “OUR” club back and we can look forward to better times.

There are many fans who couldn’t stomach the “Ashley Years” and looked forlornly at the unwanted “Sports Direct” signage that was plastered on every elevation and hoarding. Many fans walked away, preferring to go to away games when tickets could be obtained, rather than “put money into the FCB’s pocket”.

There were however also many fans who took the “Support the team, not the regime” stance and never missed a game, relishing the chance to get up at some ungodly hour and travel the length and breadth of the country, as far away as Southampton or Norwich.

These are the fans we want to showcase, guys and gals who go to extraordinary lengths to get to a game, never miss a game home and away,  or who have become part of the furniture of the “away days” scene.

We are looking for funny anecdotes, stories that have become folklore for the fans and bring a smile to your face when telling the story.

Has the nominee raised money for charity, helped out other fans, or helped the community or promoted the club in far off lands?

If you have someone you would like to nominate for a special mention, then comment in the section below and we will contact you for further information.
