A lot of Newcastle United fans are reacting to Willian Jose’s comments about how he turned down the chance to move to Newcastle.
The 27-year-old Real Sociedad striker was linked with a move to Newcastle last season, but Rafael Benitez chose to sign Salomon Rondon instead.
It seems that, according to Jose, he was Benitez’s first choice but snubbed a move in favour of remaining in Spain.
The Brazilian striker certainly could have been a good signing for the Toon as he has scored 49 goals in 117 appearances for Real Sociedad – including four this season.
Jose said in the same interview that he does now want to move to the Premier League, but at the age of 27, he is unlikely to be still considered a viable target for Newcastle.
Certainly, these Newcastle fans are not surprised that Jose rejected the chance to join Newcastle.
